Nicron 674 is an ultra-fine, high purity microcrystalline talc. It is insoluble in mineral acids, hydrophobic, and non-abrasive to compounding and processing equipment. Nicron 674 is used in a wide variety of applications, including interior/exterior coatings, color concentrates, adhesives, sealants, and thermoplastic polymers. The high Hegman fineness of Nicron 674 permits maximum extension of prime pigments, promotes weather resistance, and improves barrier properties and stain blocking properties in interior/exterior coatings and industrial primers. Because of the platy particle shape and ultra-fine grind, Nicron 674 acts as a reinforcing agent and improves film strength without degrading the flexibility of the film. Nicron 674 prevents tannin bleed and improves gloss uniformity in semi-transparent and solid color wood stains. Nicron 674 is widely used in adhesive, sealant, caulks, joint compounds, wood putty, and auto body patch applications to enhance workability and sanding properties. The consistent quality and tight top particle size control of Nicron 674 improves the impact-to-stiffness ratios in thermoplastics and makes Nicron 674 an effective anti-block additive in thin gauge polyolefin films. The fine particle size also allows efficient nucleation of crystalline polymers such as PE, PP, POM, polyamides, and polyesters.
