Dibenzoyl-p-Quinone Dioxime (DBQDO) is an effective non-sulfur vulcanizing agent for natural and synthetic elastomers. Butyl rubber cured with DBQDO agent is used for high voltage wire and cable products, molded electrical compounds, heat resistant seals, jackets, and hose, inner tubes, and tire curing bags. DBQDO agent is similar to para-Quinone Dioxime vulcanizing agent (QDO) in the properties it imparts to butyl, but different in its processing characteristics. DBQDO agent is slower, i.e., less scorchy than QDO agent and allows the processor more working time. DBQDO agent is usually preferred when processing convenience is of primary importance. DBQDO agent is often used in conjunction with an activator, e.g., red lead. In non-black stocks, it can be used with MBTS as the oxidizing agent for additional processing safety. DBQDO agent is also available from several companies in elastomer dispersions. For further information on these products, contact your Lord Technical Representative.
